Posted 1-11-19, Cheyenne Fire Rescue (CHEYENNE) – Cheyenne Fire Rescue along with three other fire agencies responded to a grass fire before dawn Thursday morning just south of the Sun Valley area.

The fire burned approximately 19.4 acres.

Cheyenne Fire Rescue Firefighters were called out at 5:09 a.m. and arrived on scene at 5:14 a.m. When firefighters arrived on scene the fire’s flames were six feet to eight feet high, it was moving to the east and had consumed about five acres of grass. Wind direction changed the path of the fire to the north and west. Fire behavior forced Cheyenne Fire Rescue into structure protection mode along Savannah Drive. No structures were damaged.

The fire was out at 9 a.m.

Providing assistance to Cheyenne Fire Rescue were Laramie County Fire District 1, Laramie County Fire District 2, and F.E. Warren Air Force Base Fire Rescue Department.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
